Our little Sam is growing up! He turned 5 years old yesterday and is very happy about it.
We had a party Monday night at my parents' house (by Sam's request) because some family members were going to be busy on his real birthday (which was Tuesday). He didn't seem to mind celebrating a day early. :)
A few weeks ago, I asked Sam if he wanted to have a friend party or a family party. He said "A friend party!" So, then I asked which friends he would like to invite. His answer: "Grandma, Braden, and Big Sam," all family members. I love that to him, his family and his friends are the same.
What party is complete without the Limbo?
Sam requested a car cake, but since I did that a few years ago, I suggested a football cake, and he thought that was great. As usual, I didn't give myself enough time to decorate it the way I was planning to, but he was happy with the way it turned out, and that's what is most important.

I've been cleaning up a lot of toys lately, so rather than get him another toy for a present, Dann and I decided to get him a boom box. He wasn't too excited when he opened it, but has used it every night since, falling asleep while listening to primary songs with headphones on. I think the reason for the headphones is because he doesn't want Lily to be able to hear the music, too. Sometimes he's not the nicest big brother...
